Wasaga Beach (June 12, 2016) – Boston Pizza Wasaga Beach will be closed to the public for the week of June 13, 2016 to allow for extensive renovations to take place at this popular restaurant and sports bar. Although planned renovations were a few years away, recent damage caused by a vehicle collision with the exterior wall of the restaurant’s dining room created the desire to move forward with a complete re-design of both the dining room and the sports bar.

Boston Pizza in Wasaga Beach, located on Main Street in the Stonebridge Town Centre, officially opened their doors to the public on April 15, 2008 and has since been a welcoming place for residents and visitors to enjoy a great meal and or a refreshing beverage. Owners Sandy & Alex Smardenka and their extended family have been very active in the Wasaga Beach community over the years and continue to support many events and initiatives that promote Wasaga Beach and the town’s tourism industry. The Smardenka family also own and operate the local Swiss Chalet restaurant and Wasaga Beach’s Historic Marlwood Golf & Country Club.

Alex Smardenka commented, “we love this community and as we look forward to the revitalization of our Main Street, famous Main Beach areas and our tourism industry as a whole, we are eager to further invest in our properties here to show our commitment to the continued growth and prosperity of Wasaga Beach.”

Although the owners remain tight lipped about the new look of Boston Pizza when it re-opens as Sandy Smardenka says “we want our valued customers to be surprised”, the theme promises to reflect the great history of Wasaga Beach, while recognizing a promising future.

The plan is to reopen on Thursday June 16 and the owners and their entire Boston Pizza team are organizing a Grand Re-Opening Celebration on Monday June 20th at 8:00 pm. All are welcome to come and see the exciting changes to Wasaga Beach’s Boston Pizza and enjoy snacks, beverages including sampling from the Wasaga Beach Brewing Company, music from Beach BOOSTER Radio and an official Ribbon Cutting by Wasaga Beach Mayor Brian Smith.

During the time the restaurant is closed for renovations, guests will be welcomed at the Historic Marlwood Golf & Country Club with some special pricing.
